Technology of the Industrial Revolution

The Industrial Revolution brought us a lot of new, useful technology, a lot of which we still use today. You've listened to your classmates present powerpoints about the usefulness of many of these new inventions. In your opinion, is there one invention from the industrial revolution that we couldn't get along without in today's world? Why is it the MOST important?

  1. I think the most important invention of the industrial revolution is steel because without steel, we wouldn't have a lot of things we have today . Almost everything is processed through factories and without steel, there would be no factories. if there were no steel, it would be possible to make stuff but it would be much slower and much more inefficient just like the putting out system and if less goods are produced, it would affect the economy of the country. if there were no steel, not only the economy would be affected, the whole world would have a different look. New York would look like a village without all the sky scrapers, subways and cars. the industrial revolution did invent many good invention but i think steel is the most important invention of its time.

  2. to me i think electricity is the most useful because it gives us so much. everything around us is electricity and we use it for multiple things like light and heat and electronics that are used today.

  3. I think that the Telephone is the absolute most important invention of the Industrial Revolution BECAUSE it keeps people informed and up to date on the latest technology in the world.

  4. I think that electricity ismost important invention because it enabled the people to light building and factories so the factory workers could work longer hours and the more products were made and it helped the economy because there was a lower demand for products and things were cheaper to buy.

  5. I think electricity is the most important invention of the industrial revolution. Without electricity, we wouldn't have anything; no phones, no computers, no lights, no heat, practically everything uses electricity. Many of the inventions of the industrial revolution couldn't have been invented without electricity. It powers the world and the world couldn't survive without it. Humans in general are dependent on electricity for everything. It is just one of those things we simply can't live without.
I also agree with Jackie that it made it possible for factories to run at night so more goods were produced and prices were lowered.
Electricity has given the world so much. We use it every day and we just take it for granted. Electricity is so important; it is definitely the most important invention of the industrial revolution.

  6. I believe that the most important invention of the industrial revolution is the seed drill. If you think about it we could survive without the telephone or electricity, I mean physically of course. Obviously some people would say they couldn't live in a world like that. I think it's the seed drill because we can't physically survive with out food and if we didn't have inventions like the seed drill then our food source would never be able to support our ever growing population

  7. Even though I was fighting for the telephone which I must admit is pretty amazing, I must confess that my device runs on electricity and electricity runs almost everything we know and love including our beloved cell phones. Even though I said the world would not be the same without phones that is true but the real reason for everything is electricity. Thank you everyone for giving me your votes I would love to thank of you individually but it seems i dont have the time so THANK YOU.
Also GABE NAHN you have a better invention than I do and you did a great job presenting along with everyone else.
I would also like to give a shout out to TENZIN you knew your invention so well and presented a better argument to everything I said congrats

  8. The Seed Drill is linked to food. It creates an abundance of healthy food. Like I argued today, food, especially when it's healthy provides energy for all that consume it. We all consume food, people of all professions and careers. Doctors, Scientists, Teacher's and Lawyers are some examples of the hard-working careers. They teach, create, discover, heal, and learn of technology and bring us towards the future. Without energy, none of this progress would be possible. The Seed Drill creates such healthy food by its seed depth and arrangement method which causes the germination process to be successful in growth and nutrient capacity. No one can survive without food, it literally its the source of human-being survival today. It fuels the thought process of everyone with a task and conveys a longer life and inventions that are the product, of food, if one was trace back to the origins of life

  9. I believe that electricity is the most important of the Victorian inventions, like most of the previous commenters. Electricity mostly controls our life, and wherever we go it tends to follow. (If you have ever tried to go a week without electricity, You know how it is.) It shapes our life, and makes us be able to live our life in safety, comfort, and light. Many tools used in manufacturing are powered by electricity, so it leads to the improvement of other technologies. Almost every industry relies upon it, and nearly every day, we use it.

  10. I think that electricity was the most important invention because our everyday life would be so much harder without electricity. We use so much electricity and we don't even know it. We don't really know how much we rely on it until we lose it or the power goes out. But even then, we have our cell phones, laptops, and some other things powered by electricity that would still work. Last year, when my power went out for a couple days, I couldn't do everyday things that I would usually do without thinking twice. I was so use to the electricity always being there, that I stayed at a friends house who had all of her electricity. It really is a big part of our lives.

  11. I'd have to say that yeah electricity is the most important invention from our time period's perspective, but during the IE the seed drill was more important. Electricity is incredibly important today, but back then steam and gas power were used more, and electricity was more experimental. The seed drill made food production better, and we need food to survive. I agree with Kris. Food fuels people, and therefore everything else we do, so something that makes more food is more important than something that makes life more comfortable.

  12. I think that electricity is the most important invention from our time period. We use it for things as small as radios to cell phones and televisions. But back then only gas, and steam were used more then electricity. So for back then I have to say thtat the telephone was most important back then. It helped communicate with people a lot.

  13. I think the most important invention of the industrial revoultion is electricity. I belive this because without electricity there would be no computers or phones. Pretty much every useful thing in the world runs off of elctricity. Electricity is great it lets us have light it lets us have tv and much more

  14. Durring the industrial revolution i would say the most important invention that was made would be electricity. That is the one thing I coulnd't live without today. Now adays everyhing is powered by electricity so without it I don't know what I'd do. It made it so almost all the other inventions work. That is why i think its the most important.
